Clear evidence Russia meddled in 2016 US election, says George W. Bush

Bush, the son of the 41st U.S. President George H.W. Bush, was the head of the U.S. government when the U.S. and its allies invaded Iraq in 2003 and toppled the Arab country's President Saddam Hussein.

Bush has said that there was "pretty clear evidence that the Russians meddled" in the 2016 presidential election on Thursday, appearing at an economic summit in the Middle East. "Whether they affected the outcome is another question", Bush said at the conference, held in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. He added: "It's problematic that a foreign nation is involved in our election system".

U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded Russian Federation meddled in the 2016 election to help Trump win.

The Trump administration earlier this month declined to impose new sanctions on Russian Federation over the meddling, saying that the threat of increased sanctions is already "serving as a deterrent" to the Kremlin.
