Apple Expected to Unveil Updated iPad and Mac at New York Event

What to Expect From Apple's October Mac Event

Apple is also expected to update its Mac computer line with new processors and some updated designs. While the iPhone won over consumers, and the Watch is on a growing number of wrists, Apple is pushing content creation for its other major devices. Bezels aren't as thin as the ones on Apple's latest iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, but with an iPad, you do need an area to hold onto the tablet. They asked not to be identified discussing unannounced products.

First Up: A New iPad Pro? The device is rumoured to cost around $500 and will ship soon after the launch. It's already happened in the 2018 iPhone models, and now it's the iPad Pro's turn. It will not have a notch into the screen like Apple's new iPhones, however. Since it's USB-C, there's a chance that it could also support fast charging via a compatible USB-C PD power adapter. The new Apple Pencil might also use the W1 wireless chip for easier pairing, and possibly even feature magnetic connectivity so that it can be attached and stored on the side of the new iPad Pros.

With just a day before the event, many reports are coming in that Apple has a whole lot of products to showcase at the Special Event October 2018 in Brooklyn, which is slated to go live at 10:00 am EDT (7:30 pm IST) in Brooklyn on Tuesday. Rumours further suggest that Apple will ditch the home button or Touch ID sensor for the new iPad Pros and will instead come with swiping gesture for navigation. Unlike with iPhones, Face ID will work in both portrait and landscape orientations.

In terms of exterior design, it looks more chunky compared to the current iPad models.

Bloomberg also reiterates claims that the upcoming iPads will feature a variant of Apple's 7nm A12 processor alongside a custom GPU.

While the tablet market is contracting overall, the iPad has been slowly regaining momentum thanks to new software and lower-priced models.

For the Mac, Apple is planning its first wide-ranging upgrades since June 2017.

The Mac Mini rises from the dead? Apple's desktop computers have always been a reliable seller, and in recent years the company has made efforts to improve their performance for professional photographers, designers, and other high-end users.

The new entry-level laptop will replace the MacBook Air, which Steve Jobs originally pulled out of a manila envelope a decade ago. The new MacBook Air will reportedly come with the same 13-inch screen size as the current Air, but the screen resolution is where will be the difference. For those unaware, the previous generation was unveiled way back in 2014. They also haven't updated the Mac Pro in forever-though they did announce that they are working on it-and the regular iMac is due for a spec bump, at least.
