Google Will Now Let You Delete Your Search History More Easily

Google Search Data

Apple recently made changes to its privacy page giving users in the USA access to the same tools that users in the European Union have access to for seeing what data is used. There the user will see options to either delete the last hour of search activity or all search activity the person has ever conducted.

Google tweaked its software to make it easier for you to delete search history and find important privacy controls, the company said Wednesday.

We already know Google collects a ton of data on us, and a lot of it comes from search. It is noted that Google is introducing these changes in the search from today, October 25, for the desktop and mobile versions. Now, the procedure has become easy and convenient.

The search engine notoriously stores a record of everything you search for on Google.com, as long as you're logged into your Google Account.

In a blog post, Google's Director of Product Management - Privacy and Data Protection Office, Eric Miraglia said it is tweaking its Search user interface to make user activity more easily accessible.

Of course, Google will still keep collecting search history even after you clear it. Here, you can see what you've searched for, and when, and there's a pin indicating that location data may be available as well.

Prior to this change, you would have to visit your Google Account profile page. And more importantly, you will be able to delete your search activity on Google.

In addition, Google has also indicated that it plans to implement similar improvements to its services, such as Google Maps.

Earlier this year, Google set up a new Google Account experience to highlight privacy and security.

The new controls seem to be in response to a growing trend with tech companies being pulled up on issues of privacy.

While this latest update from Google is a step in the right direction in terms of user privacy, advertisers could be impacted in two ways.
