Will Smith reveals first post for Disney's 'Aladdin'

Aladdin teaser trailer This film is a live-action adaptation of the 1992 animated film

The movie is based off the tale One Thousand and One Nights and the 1992 Disney animated film that won two Oscars. We'll have to wait and see.

From the looks of the first trailer, released Thursday evening, the film doesn't seem shy about borrowing familiar elements from its predecessor.

In the 1992 film, this is where Aladdin finds the lamp: Atop a tower of stones in the middle of a lake of lava in the Cave of Wonders. As we all know, Aladdin is that diamond in the rough.

"Choose wisely", the poster also teases. Aladdin plans to uses these wishes to win over the lovely Princess Jasmine, but the evil Jafar has other plans. Other cast members in include Navid Negahban ("Homeland") as the Sultan; Nasim Pedrad ("Saturday Night Live") as Dalia, Princess Jasmine's hand maiden and confidante; Billy Magnussen ("Into the Woods") as Prince Anders, a potential husband for Princess Jasmine; and Numan Acar ("Homeland") as Hakim, Jafar's right-hand man and head of the palace guards. The late Robin Williams voiced the legendary Genie character in one of his most memorable roles.

The new film is directed by Guy Ritchie with a screenplay by Ritchie, John August, and Vanessa Taylor.

Opening May 24th 2019, Aladdin will be followed by another live-action Disney remake in July the same year as Jon Favreau is set to unleash Lion King. Music is by Alan Menken, who also created music for the original animated movie with Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.
