Possible Endings to the SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match at Crown Jewel

WWE Stars John Cena, Daniel Bryan Not Going To Saudi Arabia Event

Hogan hasn't made a WWE appearance since 2015 after his own contentious exit from the scene.

Having his return be in Saudi Arabia was a much softer landing spot than doing so in the United States, where there is a greater chance Hogan would be booed.

Hogan's star power was also likely a way to make up for John Cena and Daniel Bryan pulling out of the event after the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi embassy in Turkey. Hogan spoke with the WWE locker room in July before an event and his comments were not widely appreciated.

WWE Crown Jewel will air at 12:00 p.m. ET Friday on the WWE Network.

"Considering the heinous crime committed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, the Company faced a very hard decision as it relates to its event scheduled for November 2 in Riyadh", the WWE acknowledged in its statement.

Hogan, who wasn't seen again on the show, never used the words Saudi Arabia, instead saying "here" and at "the Crown Jewel".

It's unclear if WWE's audience is ready and willing to accept Hogan back into the fold, but his presence at an already controversial event isn't likely to go over well on social media.

How to watch the live streaming of WWE Crown Jewel? It fell one percent Thursday and was off a similar amount early Friday after Hogan was confirmed as Crown Jewel's host. However, the call by WWE officials was to have the decision made to quietly list Hogan's name on the WWE website. Women weren't allowed to perform at either show due to the country's laws limiting women's rights.

Seth Rollins will face Bobby Lashley in the first round while Kurt Angle will be up against Dolph Ziggler in the other match from RAW. That 10-year deal, which is part of the Saudis' "Vision 2030" project, reportedly will net the WWE more than $400 million.
