Watch the Final Super Smash Bros

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Simon Belmont

Ultimate: Ken and the Pokemon Incineroar.

Nintendo has confirmed the two final fighters of Super Smash Bros.Ultimate, an announcement that squashes recent rumors of a possible five character addition. An example of fighting against these is Fire Emblem's Owain being shown as a Spirit, which gives increased power to melee weapons, but also makes the enemy taunt a lot, like the character's personality.

New characters like Street Fighter's Guile, the Squid Sisters, and Spring Man from ARMS bring the total amount of Assist Trophies to 59.

Piranha Plant will be available as a limited-time free DLC character for people who register their games on their Nintendo accounts by January 21.

There's no firm release dates for the new content - Nintendo stresses they're still being worked on - but there's a general expectation that all five packs will release in the next year. People who purchase the pass will receive a Mii Fighter costume of Xenoblade Chronicles 2's Rex, which will launch on December 7. Each piece of DLC will come with a song, character, and stage for $5.99.

Spirits will replace collectible trophies, will com in different types, such as Primary and Suppport. We also know that each new fighter will be a fleshed-out character in their own right, rather than just Echo versions of those already on the roster.

While early adopters will be going in blind with the Fighters Pass, it's important to note that each new fighter will be developed from scratch. But the Master Hands transform into looping beams of light that carry away the characters, turning them into spirits.

The spirits seem to be represented in-game as mostly 2D artwork but they all have special buffs and abilities that they can confer to your chosen fighter. The Nintendo Online app will support multiplayer features, and the app will also support voice chat for the game.
