Cameramen compete to take Crown Prince's pictures at G20

The crown princequickly exited the stage without shaking hands or talking with other leaders

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has said the killing was ordered by the highest level of Saudi leadership but probably not from King Salman, putting the spotlight instead on the 33-year-old crown prince.

The Saudi de-facto leader was facing political exile over his alleged involvement in the killed of Khashoggi, although he appears to have been embraced by a number of world leaders at the G20 Summit.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo vowed on Saturday that the United States would continue supporting Saudi Arabia's military campaign in Yemen, despite rising outrage over the kingdom.

Meanwhile Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has told CNN that he saw all the intelligence held by the USA on the killing and said there was no direct evidence linking Prince Mohammed to the murder.

Earlier, Prince Mohammed was sidelined during the official "family photo" of world leaders at Friday's gathering and was largely ignored.

"There's no direct evidence linking him to the murder of Jamal Khashoggi", Pompeo told CNN.

The Trump administration faces tremendous domestic and worldwide pressure to review its relationship with Saudi Arabia after Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi's murder at the Saudi consulate Istanbul in October this year.

But Bob Corker, the outgoing Republican chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said in an interview published on Friday that the United States needed to rein in Prince Mohammed, who was "out of control".

Pompeo, who met in Buenos Aires with his Saudi counterpart, has backed the war as a way to counter Iran, which reportedly has ties to Yemen's Houthi rebels.

Canada has been outspoken on human rights in Saudi Arabia, which has retaliated by breaking off diplomatic relations and vowing to end trade.

Secretary of Defence Jim Mattis said the question of holding the killers responsible and the strategic importance of the US-Saudi relationship were separate issues.

Local officials in a Washington neighborhood have voted to rename a street outside Saudi Arabia's embassy in honor of slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

The Journal reported that Central Intelligence Agency analysis of the communication "seems to foreshadow the Saudi operation launched against Khashoggi".

Speaking to reporters at the G20 summit in Buenos Aires, Erdogan said that solving the Khashoggi killing would also be in the interest of the Saudi monarchy.

President Donald Trump, who also has been briefed on the CIA's findings, has been equivocal in assigning blame to the crown prince, who works closely with the president's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner on Middle East issues.

Turkey has evidence documenting that Khashoggi, a Washington Post columnist and a critic of the crown prince, was killed in 7-1/2 minutes, Erdogan said.

Last week, in a rebuke of Saudi Arabia and the administration's handling of the Khashoggi case, a majority of the Senate voted to advance a measure to end U.S. military support to Saudi Arabia for its war in Yemen against Iranian-backed militants.
