Syrian media reports air strike south of Damascus

Syria shoots downs ‘hostile targets following Israeli attack

Missile fire is seen over Damascus, Syria, May 10, 2018.

"Our missile defenses opened fire at hostile targets and downed several of them above the southern outskirts of the capital", the agency quoted an unnamed military source as saying.

On Thursday evening, Syria's national TV said the Syrian air defence missiles responded to a contentious missile strike, noting that all enemy targets were destroyed and that the foreign attack did not achieve its intended goal.

Syrian state media mentioned an army resource yet did not define what the target was or where it originated from.

On many days, Hamza Abu Shalhoub is the only person sitting inside the derelict VIP lounge of what used to.

Israeli press reports meanwhile highlighted that an Iranian plane flew from Tehran to Beirut, allegedly carrying weapons for Hezbollah.

Unlike previous occasions, the Syrian authorities did not blame Israel.

He added that Israel would "continue security coordination" with Russian Federation.

"At this stage it remains unclear whether there was indeed an impact in our territory". Our forces are combing the area.

The Israeli army said a missile was sacked at the Golan Heights, but that it remains unclear whether the projectile fell in Israel.

The incident occurred as part of Syrian anti-aircraft intervention against planes that last night attacked military targets south of Damascus.

Russian Federation is a key ally of Syrian President Bashar Assad, and its intervention in the civil war, beginning in 2015, turned the tide in his favor.

The source said all the missiles targeting the town of Kiswah were struck.

If Israel is behind the attack, it would be the first attack since September when its airstrike confused the Syrian air defenses which mistakenly mistakenly shot down a Russian surveillance aircraft, killing 15 Russian servicemen.

Israeli usually claims that its strikes target Iranian positions or weapons in Syria that could end up in the hands of the Hezbollah group in Lebanon.
