Trump praises Roger Stone's 'guts,' slams former lawyer for cooperating with Mueller

Rep. Schiff suggests Roger Stone may have lied to Congress

Commenting on an investigation is not in and of itself a crime, but a Monday morning tweet by President Trump has some legal experts wondering if it crosses a line into witness tampering.

George Conway singled out tweet number three and offered a pithy response.

Mueller's team is looking into whether Stone, an informal adviser to Trump during the 2016 campaign, was in communication with WikiLeaks before the website publicized stolen emails from Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.

In August 2015, the Trump campaign stated that Stone was sacked, after several inflammatory social media posts were publicized.

But Stone insisted that he would never testify against his longtime friend. Trump tweeted, adding, "He makes up stories to get a GREAT & ALREADY reduced deal for himself, and get [.] his wife and father-in-law (who has the money?) off Scott Free".

Cohen told a federal judge that negotiations for a Trump Tower real estate project in Moscow were still going on as late as June 2016, just one month before Trump earned the Republican Party's nomination.

This comes after President Donald Trump's former lawyer pleaded guilty to lying to Congress, raising questions about whether the special counsel would pursue similar charges against others implicated in the Russian Federation probe. "He lied for this outcome and should, in my opinion, serve a full and complete sentence".

Conservative author Jerome Corsi, who has refused to sign a plea deal with special counsel Robert Mueller, on December 3 filed a "criminal and ethics complaint" against Mueller's team.

Trump has dismissed the significance of the finding.

But Cohen, once among the president's most loyal allies, turned on Trump after pleading guilty and provided prosecutors with detailed accounts of his possible wrongdoing. "Nice to know that some people still have 'guts!'", the president tweeted. "The truth is very bad for their mission!"
