'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Footage Teases New Alliance

Television giant HBO has shared the first footage from a host of its upcoming shows for the year, including Game of Thrones.

While movies and TV shows were getting awards during the Golden Globes, HBO dropped the first footage of their two biggest genre properties of 2019: Game of Thrones and Watchmen.

In the few seconds that HBO shows the first look from the series' season finale, the audience gets to see Sansa Stark and Daenerys Targaryen share screen space for the first time in the history of GoT.

Unfortunately, we still don't know precisely when that will be, but it shouldn't be much longer until HBO makes another announcement. That look Sansa gives Daenerys alone is all you need to sell this final season.

Therefore, it seems once the Night King reaches Winterfell, he'll be facing off against both the Mother of Dragons and Snow for round two. The teaser reveals clips from Damon Lindelof's adaptation of the legendary graphic novel Watchmen, as well as Big Little Lies season 2, and the hopefully-redemptive True Detective season 3.

There's also huge potential that this meeting is the first interaction of what will become a power-couple in the show's final season.

The commercial didn't just tease Game of Thrones Season 8.

Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen were last seen in Season 7 aboard a boat heading for Winterfell, as they prepare to defend the North against the White Walkers. The full line up of 2019 HBO content can be viewed on the HBO website.

The season is going to get ugly, and the breakdown of alliances, including families, is a real possibility.
