Manhunt underway after suspect fired into vehicle, killing 7-year-old girl

Police said that some kind of altercation in the parking lot may have led to the shooting, and the gunman fired into the vehicle holding the five females, killing the girl and injuring the woman in her arm.

Harris County, TX sheriff's deputies say five people were in a vehicle when an unidentified man began shooting at them for an unknown reason. Her mother, LaPorsha Washington, 30, was shot in the arm and was taken to the hospital.

"So senseless. It's never easy, and extra hard during the holiday season", Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted on December 30.

Four girls, ages 7 to 15, were inside the vehicle.

According to Harris County sheriff's Maj. The girls and Washington survived.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tweeted that the suspect was driving a red pickup.

"Of course they're shaken, they're devastated, they lost a sister", Razo said. "A total of 5 occupants in the auto witnessed this child, their loved one, shot and killed before their eyes".

"Because we will be looking for you, we will locate you, we will find you", Razo said.

Authorities are asking Houston-area residents to review video surveillance for any images of a pickup whose driver they say fired into a auto carrying a family, killing a 7-year-old girl and wounding the child's mother.

The suspect in the shooting remains at large.

Razo said his department will continue to investigate the incident and "use all of our resources to bring this killer to justice". If you know anything please contact us asap.
