Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says Antonio Brown hasn't asked for trade

Amid the Antonio Brown controversy came in starting QB Ben Roethlisberger who made a decision to throw Le'Veon Bell under the bus and essentially blame him for the team falling apart towards the end of the season and missing the playoffs.

Roethlisberger said he talked to Brown on Thursday morning and said "everything was great and fine" between them. During the incident, Brown yelled "I'm done" while walking off the field, a source told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora tweeted, "The altercation that led Antonio Brown's benching last week was with Ben Roethlisberger". On Friday, Tomlin sent Brown home to rest and suggested he get an MRI on the banged up knee. Trading him would bring a salary cap hit of more than $21 million. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Brown had his knee tested after he "didn't feel comfortable enough to [practice]".

It seems unlikely that Steelers will trade Brown, and even more unlikely that the Steelers would trade him to the Browns. Which means that they think Brown quit on the team, days before a de facto playoff game.

While Brown was on the sidelines early Sunday, he was gone by halftime.

When asked about the player in the week offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner said: 'I'm not going to answer any questions about Antonio. "I consider him one of my closer friends". He can make plays all over the field, and his speed allows him to rack up yards after the catch. "I know guys that are frustrated".

Tomlin has long had a policy of trying to tune out what his players say or do on social media, but admitted there's a level of "disappointment" when it comes to Brown's actions before adding it's immaterial to his job.

"If there was a blowup or something, I sure as heck didn't see it", Roethlisberger said (via ESPN).

"There's a disappointment, there's no denying that", was one of the last things Tomlin said during his 29-minute news conference at an overflowing UPMC.
