Last season, Wall missed 41 games after a procedure on his left knee. The point guard was frequently criticized for his stagnant play on the defensive end this season and now there is a definitive reason why instead of pure apathy on Wall's part.

Star point guard John Wall is 'planning to undergo season-ending surgery' to fix bone spurs in his left heel, ESPN's Brian Windhorst and Adrian Wojnarowski reported Saturday, citing league sources. The Wizards were at home for a game with Charlotte on Saturday night. Washington is now 11th in the East with a 13-23 record.

In 2018-2019, Wall has been averaging 20.7 points and 8.7 assists. Forward Markieff Morris is also out with a neck injury. After Satoransky, the team's only other true point guard is Chasson Randle, who just signed with the team a couple weeks ago after spending much of the season with their G League affiliate. On Dec. 16 in Los Angeles, he scored 40 points with 14 assists against the Lakers.

ESPN first reported Wall's plan for surgery, after NBC Sports Washington learned that he was considering the procedure. More of the fallout from this injury will become clear in the coming days and weeks.
